Alexander V. - Fullstack Developer, In-App Purchases, macOS

At Softaims, I’ve found a workplace that thrives on collaboration and purposeful creation. The work we do here is about more than technology—it’s about transforming ideas into results that matter. Every project brings a mix of challenges and opportunities, and I approach them with a mindset of continuous learning and improvement. My philosophy centers around three principles: clarity, sustainability, and impact. Clarity means designing systems that are understandable, adaptable, and easy to maintain. Sustainability is about building with the future in mind, ensuring that the work we do today can evolve gracefully over time. And impact means creating something that genuinely improves how people work, connect, or experience the world. One of the most rewarding aspects of working at Softaims is the diversity of thought that every team member brings. We share insights, question assumptions, and push each other to think differently. It’s this culture of curiosity and openness that drives the quality of what we produce. Every solution we deliver is a reflection of that shared dedication. I’m proud to contribute to projects that not only meet client expectations but also exceed them through thoughtful execution and attention to detail. As I continue to grow in this journey, I remain focused on delivering meaningful outcomes that align technology with purpose.

Experience Highlights

NewNew app

NewNew is an innovative startup from Los Angeles backed by major VCs like Andreessen Horowitz and Founders Fund. It's a digital marketplace where people sell their decisions to those who control what they should do next. I joined NewNew right after the seed round, and we were iterating like crazy to find product market fit. Over two years, our hard work and dedication culminated in a highly successful Series A round. NewNew was featured in The New York Times, BBC, CNBC, and Business Insider. The founders valued my contributions highly, resulting in exceptional feedback on my performance.

MeteorActive app

This project is a blend of my passions: software development and astronomy. The app aims to give amateur astronomers tools for estimating meteor showers activity. It's a native iOS app written in Swift. I did everything myself (except UI design). This project relies heavily on complex scientific calculations, and implementing them correctly and making them run fast was quite a challenge. MeteorActive had over 1000 downloads two weeks after launch and was featured by the major amateur astronomer magazine "Sky & Telescope." In 2024, I migrated the app from UIKit to SwiftUI.

RedSip app

This project aimed to add a cool augmented reality experience to the RedSip iPhone app. It heavily uses Apple's ARKit and SceneKit to show a virtual Halo-like interface around a real-world wine bottle. The most challenging part, which I am especially proud of, is the automatic detection of a wine bottle from a 3D point cloud. As far as I know, no one has done anything like this before. It's written in Swift and wrapped into a framework to be part of the main app. The client was pleased and excited about the result.

Marquee Movies app

Marquee is one of the most pretty apps I've ever developed. The goal was to showcase what Impekable can accomplish. It's a native iOS app written in Objective-C for iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. As a part of the Impekable team, I developed about 2/3 of the codebase, including numerous updates. The most challenging part was developing app architecture, a solid foundation for a big project. I also did some custom animations. The app aggregates information from several external sources and has its own backend. Marquee was featured in Time Magazine and helped Impekable to attract new clients.

EyeQ app

EyeQ (later rebranded as eyeVue) is a companion app for the gadget with the same name by Parle Innovation. It's a native iOS app written in Swift that extensively uses AVFoundation (Apple's framework for video capture and processing). Although I couldn't access the device, I developed over 90% of the app remotely. EyeQ was one of the first apps to use Facebook Live streaming, and it was quite a challenge to implement then. The client was delighted with the app and came back for an update.
