With severe weather and over-extended energy infrastructure, households are looking for alternative power supplies in times of need. However many home solar power and battery systems require major investments, retrofitting, and installation time. These systems don’t address the larger population needs who tend to live in urban areas, in multi-family apartment buildings, and who are budget-conscious. Thus leaving most families in the dark when disasters strike. The Ubio Solar Generator with a built-in inverter and battery was conceived to solve this problem. Users would have the option to plug into either the grid system or and solar panel to charge the battery. Multiple ports could power multiple devices, and run small appliances, or cooktops. Together this solution could provide countless homes across the globe with a reliable and dependable power supply when they need it most.
As a subsidiary of the Newell Rubbermaid company; Graco is the single largest baby stroller and seating producer in the world. As an experimental investigation, the goal for Graco was to develop a method that could allow fluid conversion from a bassinet or English pram to an upright seat or American stroller. This category requires thorough research into patents, ASTM standards, and human factors to understand possible infringements, opportunities, safety recommendations, limitations, and accommodating a wide range of children sizes as they develop. Our work progressed to apply the method and mechanics to a home bassinet here. In creating a marketable design ready for production the complexities increased in reducing part count and utilizing the most efficient manufacturing processes. By the end, a full-scale MVP prototype was developed to demonstrate the solution developed.
A true smart mug that regulates its internal temperature based on user preference and outside atmosphere. Using its purposefully designed outer body channels, internal electronics can self-regulate to maintain the optimal temperature. Internally heat from hot beverages can capture and store energy using an internal battery which can be used to power other devices. With an innovative cap mechanism a user can open with either hand and drink from any side.
Mantris was conceived and designed to correct and alleviate bad posture as well as back and neck pain for laptop users. Its form factor was intended to be portable and easily slip into bags while also fitting complex mechanisms that provide safety and security for various standing and sitting heights.
A multi international award winning and first of its kind dedicated dental screw channel barrier. With dental implant procedures dentists have the issue of later accessing the abutment screw. After a tooth is connected to the screw, it is capped with a filler which ends up clogging the screw head. Ad hoc remedies, such as plumber's tape, are often used as a barrier which leads to bacterial growth and infections. FirstPlug is biocompatible, bacteria impervious, expunges moisture, and is made in the USA. The dispenser design is airtight, allows one handed opening, prevents material fall back, includes finger recess, cutter, measuring strip, volume indicator, and is made from recyclable PP.
