Experience Highlights

Cronnit

Cronnit is a popular third-party tool for Reddit that allows users to schedule posts in advance. It’s particularly useful for users who want their posts to appear at specific times, such as for timed announcements or to engage with communities in different time zones. Cronnit works by queuing up your post and submitting it to Reddit at the desired time, automating the process that Reddit's native features don't directly support. It typically requires authentication with your Reddit account and lets you set the title, subreddit, and content of your post, as well as the time for posting.

ProxySocket

proxysocket is a Node.js library that creates a simple TCP proxy server. It allows users to easily route TCP traffic through specified endpoints by opening a socket connection between clients and remote servers. It supports basic forwarding of requests, with a focus on minimal configuration and ease of use. This library can be used for testing, tunneling, or routing purposes in various network scenarios. It’s particularly useful for developers who need to manipulate or inspect network traffic.

Compiz Desktop Compositor

Compiz is an open-source window manager for the X Window System, introduced in 2006 by Novell. It was one of the first to leverage hardware-accelerated graphics using OpenGL, delivering smooth transitions, dynamic animations, and 3D effects like wobbly windows and desktop cubes. Its plugin-based design made it popular for a visually enhanced desktop experience. I initially contributed by setting up Doxygen tooling for documentation and later developed performance-boosting effects for lower-end devices, particularly as Ubuntu gained popularity around 2008.

Assembly Cup

ASMCup was a competition where participants wrote assembly-like code to control bots in a virtual machine (VM). The custom VM simulated low-level computing, requiring competitors to optimize for performance and memory. Bots competed in tasks like mazes or combat, with efficiency and intelligent behavior being key to success. The challenge focused on writing highly optimized, low-level code, offering a unique opportunity for developers interested in assembly language and system-level programming. It has been successful and used in universities to teach low level computer programming and AI.

Animal AI Olympics

I competed twice in the Animal-AI Olympics, sponsored by GoodAI, and placed in the top 10 with a two-person team. Our entry featured cutting-edge AI for image segmentation and labeling, trained on millions of synthetic samples. Given only a small 50x50 pixel view of a 3D world, our robot had to solve complex puzzles. We accurately converted this view into stencil and depth buffers using a convolutional neural network in Tensorflow, enabling our AI to navigate and interact with the environment.
