Mike M. Cloud, AI and IoT Platforms

My name is Mike M. and I have over 8 years of experience in the tech industry. I specialize in the following technologies: Amazon Web Services, MySQL, JavaScript, SQL, Python, etc.. I hold a degree in Bachelor of Science (BS). Some of the notable projects I’ve worked on include: Electric Bus Fleet Charging System, Backtest, a financial trading simulation/engine, Arduino prototype, Muzikbrowzer, Pathwayz game. I am based in Austin, United States. I've successfully completed 5 projects while developing at Softaims.

My expertise lies in deeply understanding and optimizing solution performance. I have a proven ability to profile systems, analyze data access methods, and implement caching strategies that dramatically reduce latency and improve responsiveness under load. I turn slow systems into high-speed performers.

I focus on writing highly efficient, clean, and well-documented code that minimizes resource consumption without sacrificing functionality. This dedication to efficiency is how I contribute measurable value to Softaims’ clients by reducing infrastructure costs and improving user satisfaction.

I approach every project with a critical eye for potential bottlenecks, proactively designing systems that are efficient from the ground up. I am committed to delivering software that sets the standard for speed and reliability.

Experience Highlights

Electric Bus Fleet Charging System

Provides charging services to electric bus fleet operations. Controlled from cloud involves optimizing for cost over varying energy cost schedules by time of day and season, while meeting hourly/daily duty cycle requirements. System tracks and records charging sessions, energy usage and savings. I am co-inventor of the patent covering this technology US Patent# US20210086647A1. - Principal Engineer responsible for design and build out of cloud infrastructure and micro services - Collaborate with CTO, vendors, OPS - Supervise/mentor development team - Provide Ops support and further enhance systems for efficiency and enhancement - Built core microservices, patent pending charging system (SCADA/IOT), telematics/gps integrations, OCPP integration, monitoring & alert notification system - Completed successful build out of the microservices cloud systems, launched Jan 2020 - Remains in production - Credited with patent co-inventor - AWS, ECS, IOT/MQTT, Lambda, RDS, AutoScaling, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, CodeBuild, CodePipeline, ECR, IAM, Route53, S3, SQS, Docker, LocalStack, Node.js, Python, React

Backtest, a financial trading simulation/engine

Backtest is a financial trading strategy analysis utility. An algorithmic trading strategy is defined, historical market data is provided, adjustable parameters configured. Backtest runs by simulating trades as defined by the strategy. It performs buys, sells based on the strategy over the defined historical market data. Backtest runs the strategy repeatedly by varying the adjustable parameters such that thousands of permutations are generated. To avoid curve fitting Backtest employs a method of "walk forward" or "out of band" testing. Backtest was successfully used by a small investor group. - Collabration with business partners studying various day trading algorithms and strategies - Built a Backtest engine/application for use on Windows Desktop - Successfully used to test trading strategies which where then used live with real $ - Written in C++

Arduino prototype

Physical product detects presense/absense of RFID tags and reports info and tracks to cloud via AWS IOT/MQTT. - Principal Engineer - Develop firmware and cloud infrastructure & software - Sourced and assembled (soldering) hardware components: Arduino, Cell Modem and RFID reader - Extensive research on RFID technology, RFID tags, antennas and readers - Successful build of Proof of Concept - First professional hardware work Arduino dev environment, AWS IOT, ECS

Muzikbrowzer

Muzikbrowzer is a unique digital music player. It is designed around the media center environment and remote control operation. It's all about the UX. Browsing through your music collection should be an easy, pleasant, enjoyable experience. Playing songs or albums should be effortless. Muzikbrowzer is designed with these ideas primary.
