Paul G. - Fullstack Developer, Phaser, Software Architecture & Design

At Softaims, I have been fortunate to work in an environment that values creativity, precision, and long-term thinking. Each project presents a unique opportunity to transform abstract ideas into meaningful digital experiences that create real impact. I approach every challenge with curiosity and commitment, ensuring that every solution I design aligns not just with technical requirements, but also with human needs and business objectives. One of the most rewarding aspects of my journey here has been learning how to bridge the gap between innovation and practicality. I believe technology should simplify complexity, enhance efficiency, and empower people to do more with less friction. Whether building internal systems, optimizing workflows, or helping bring client visions to life, my focus remains on developing solutions that stand the test of time. Softaims has encouraged me to grow beyond coding—to think about design, communication, and sustainability in technology. I see every project as part of a larger ecosystem, where small details contribute to long-lasting results. My daily motivation comes from collaborating with people who share the same passion for doing meaningful work, and from seeing the tangible difference our efforts make for clients around the world. More than anything, I value the culture of learning and improvement that defines Softaims. It’s a place where ideas evolve through teamwork and constructive feedback. My goal is to continue refining my craft, exploring new approaches, and contributing to solutions that are not only efficient but also elegant in their simplicity.

Experience Highlights

Swoop

I created this cross-platform app for a freelance client. It was created in Flutter to take advantage of the single source for multiple platforms, allowing cost-effective development for iOS and Android. It connects with a Firebase-based backend that I was also responsible for setting up and configuring. It uses location-based information to deliver time-limited vouchers to users based on their current location, vouchers that local retailers of all sizes can publish to encourage shoppers in the vicinity to visit their stores.

Retro Remakes Challenge

A personal challenge I undertook to recreate 12 classic Sinclair ZX Spectrum games, one per month for a year, in Godot. Recreating the experience of the 8 bit classics, and sometimes adding a twist or refresh for modern hardware. All games are playable online at itch.io.

FruitSpritzer

A game, based on the common match 3 mechanic, with a twist. Time is of the essence, the game is played against the clock, unlike many match 3 games, where you have time to play, you have to move fast and score high in FruitSpritzer.

Pico8 Shmup

A simple example of creating a classic 2D shooter in a constrained environment. Pico8 has only 32K of memory, 16 colours, and limited graphical capabilities. Developed using Pico8's flavour of Lua, this game includes advanced features that could enable a very rich and deep game to be created. Lots of generic features including: * Cardinal spline interpolation for enemy wave paths. * Custom OOP system on Lua built into the game. * Data driven levels. * State machine for game states.

WeTracker

An online collaborative music authoring tool based on the powerful tracker style of music creation, popular for game music in the early 1990's.
