I designed and implemented an end-to-end CI/CD workflow to build, scan, and deploy containerized microservices to AWS EKS using GitHub Actions and ArgoCD. The pipeline covers every stage of the delivery process: - Automated code checkout and security scanning with Gitleaks - Code quality analysis with SonarQube - Container build and vulnerability scanning with Docker and Trivy - Image publishing to AWS ECR - GitOps deployment model using ArgoCD, which automatically applies updates to the EKS cluster whenever manifests are updated in the GitOps repository
The client required a fully dynamic, production-grade Kubernetes environment on AWS without relying on the public VPC and EKS Terraform modules. The goal was to design and build all infrastructure components from scratch to meet strict compliance and security requirements. I developed centralized Terraform modules to provision the complete environment, including: - A custom VPC spanning multiple Availability Zones, with public and private subnets, NAT gateways, route tables, and an Internet Gateway. - A fully managed EKS Control Plane integrated with private worker nodes.
The client wanted to avoid creating a separate AWS ALB for every microservice in their EKS cluster. Although I suggested using the ALB Ingress Controller with a shared target group, they preferred to have NGINX as the default ingress. They also needed a way to handle SSL certificates automatically, since manually issuing and renewing certificates for each service was time-consuming and prone to errors. I installed Cert-Manager with Let’s Encrypt so that TLS certificates were created and renewed automatically. This ensured all services were secured with up-to-date certificates.
