Betsson Group
At Betsson, a company listed on Nasdaq Stockholm, I played a crucial role as a senior software engineer within the backend sportsbook team, contributing significantly to the development of their multi-brand betting platform known for its high-performance, high-availability, and high-throughput capabilities. Notably, our system demonstrated remarkable efficiency by processing up to 600,000 bets on a single Saturday. My responsibilities included developing Restful APIs to facilitate data access for internal sportsbook and Front End development teams. Additionally, I spearheaded the implementation of background-running microservices that processed data from RabbitMQ queues and published to subsequent services, while also utilizing Hangfire to manage recurring jobs for background data processing. I advocated for performance optimization strategies, emphasizing the use of memory cache or distributed cache layer (Redis) to minimize direct database queries (MSSQL). Furthermore, I crafted well-designed, reusable code and sportsbook libraries such as the Odds Format Converter and Infrastructure tools, while also writing comprehensive unit tests and supporting QA Engineers in integration testing. Ensuring adherence to high-quality coding standards, I conducted regular code reviews and prepared clear documentation for all developed features and microservices, fostering knowledge sharing sessions among team members. Additionally, I monitored system processing times, implementing improvements as necessary, and fulfilled on-call duties to ensure the system's reliability and performance around the clock.
At KingMakers, Africa's largest online gaming platform, I served as a senior software engineer within the sportsbook team. My responsibilities encompassed various pivotal tasks, including independently orchestrating the migration of the sportsbook cashout polling feature to real-time push notifications using Azure SignalR Service. Additionally, I spearheaded the relocation of a segment of our sportsbook system from Confluent Cloud Kafka topics to Azure EventHubs, aligning with our objectives of cost reduction and standardization. Furthermore, I led the transition of diverse system components to the Azure cloud, adopting containerization through Docker for our microservices and leveraging Azure Kubernetes Service for efficient pod hosting. We employed Azure App Config for streamlined application settings management and Azure Key Vault for secure storage of sensitive information. Integrating Azure Application Insights enabled comprehensive metric gathering for our services, while Azure Pipelines enhanced CI/CD automation. Crafting Infrastructure as Code (IaC) pipelines with Terraform facilitated seamless infrastructure deployment. Additionally, I orchestrated the transformation and updating of legacy services to the latest .NET Framework version (.NET 8), implementing Task-based Asynchronous programming for synchronous operations to asynchronous ones. Furthermore, I provided round-the-clock support to NOC engineers and traders for system issues through on-call duties outside of regular business hours and facilitated the onboarding of several new starter developers into our sportsbook system.
A full fledged public SaaS rotating proxy API that generates a random proxy upon every request. This project integrates Stripe provider for payments, and uses the ASP.NET stack for backend and Angular for the Single Page Application. For persistence, PostgreSQL was used. Everything runs on the cloud on dockerized containers.
