It was an ad management system for a NY based publishing company (<50 employees). The project was built from scratch by a small team of engineers (3 BE, 1FE). The project was long-term (2+ years). The project contained 15+ integrations with different data sources, 20+ microservices in AWS, and an analytics engine based on Yandex.Clickhouse. My main achievements: - designed and implemented the system from scratch - investigated and fixed Java memory (Hibernate) and DB performance issues - evaluated solutions for analytical storage and integrated with Yandex.Clickhouse/Yandex.Cloud
The project provided an email exchange system where each message and its attachments are considered legal documents. It’s already the second project of this type I took part in (the other one in 2012-2013). I was hired as a last resort rescue. The project suffered from performance and quality issues and was about to be closed. My main achievements: - Solved all critical performance, quality, and data integrity issues in less than 3 months - Successfully delivered the next production release that was accepted by the client without a single bug found - Finally made the project highly profitable together with a fellow developer who joined the project later on
The project was a document management system with a high level of automation. The document flow was described in BPMN processes. The processes were executed automatically with minor human involvement. It was a very ambitious and intense project to develop a new ticket system for public transport in Switzerland. The team successfully deployed the product to production. The customer was highly satisfied with the quality of the delivered software. My main achievements: - extreme growth from a junior developer to a technical project lead via a team-lead position - close collaboration with management and client to track the project progress - successfully fixed many complex issues related to Hibernate<->DB interaction - as a team leader ensured that my subsystem was fully cluster-ready. It also included solving several hard concurrency challenges - investigated and fixed DB performance issues - introduced several technical improvements that significantly reduced amount of bugs (QueryDSL was one of them) - initiated and implemented several UI applications that the client found very useful
