Scribd was having issues with Google's Get Book SERP Feature. We had a huge library of eBooks, audiobooks and more from publishers, but the majority of our data was uploaded PDFs. When Google indexed our website, they categorized it as a PDF upload site, not a source of available eBooks. For this and several other reasons, Scribd decided to move all publisher content to a new app called Everand. I served as a Web Tech Lead, leading an 8 person team in the construction and styling of Everand, along with adjustments to our recommendations and search algorithms to filter content for each app.
RaveDaddy is a mobile app for safety at large music events. Users can create groups and view everyone's current location on a map screen, with the option to turn off location tracking after the show is over. If someone needs help, they can tap an SOS button that will send an alert to other members of the group and highlight their marker on the map. We built the app in React Native with Expo, using a Firebase Firestore database as the backend. I joined the team when the app was an MVP draft and have since rewritten most of the codebase in TypeScript with a Zustand store for state management.
RAM Mounts has a huge inventory of modular products that fit together into mounting kits for specific devices and vehicles. We wanted to build a step-by-step UX feature where customers could select their vehicle and the make/model of their device to get options for assembling a mounting kit. I was the primary developer on this project, building it as a single page application on our Ruby on Rails website. I made an Elasticsearch cluster to provide product data for this feature through a JSON API, then assembled the UI with jQuery and Rails partials. I later rebuilt the entire app in React.
