Client Goal: The client desired a high-performance WordPress theme that would load quickly without relying on a page builder. Additionally, they emphasized the importance of clean code and strong SEO optimization. A custom plugin was also envisioned, allowing users to play radio from MP3 files and streaming links, alongside the ability to publish podcast episodes. My Contribution: As the core developer for this project, I took the client's provided sample design and built a custom WordPress theme. To achieve a fast user experience, I implemented AJAX (PJAX) for content loading. The audio player functionality was developed using WordPress's built-in MediaElement.js library, along with the design of the player interface. Project Success: Upon completion, the project achieved the following successes: Speed Optimization: Utilizing Google PageSpeed Insights and GTmetrix, the website consistently scored above 90% in performance tests. Monetization: Strategic ad placements were integrated within the theme. Code Efficiency: Both JavaScript and CSS files were minified to reduce overall file size, further enhancing website performance. Code optimization was also implemented for additional efficiency gains. This project effectively delivered on the client's goals, resulting in a fast, clean, and SEO-friendly WordPress theme with a custom audio player plugin for radio and podcast management.
