Introduction: The client aimed to create a platform where students could be matched with a personalized advising team to enhance their chances of gaining admission to their dream colleges. Additionally, they wanted to enable admission and finance experts to register as advisors to join the advising team. My Contribution: As the lead engineer on this project, I played a pivotal role in turning the client's vision into reality. I utilized a stack of technologies including TypeScript, React, Node.js, Express, GraphQL, and PostgreSQL to develop a custom application that met the client's unique requirements. One of the major challenges we faced during the project was the data gap between the existing Salesforce system and the newly developed custom application. To address this issue, I engineered a centralized data system that seamlessly synchronized data between Salesforce and the custom application. This synchronization was achieved through the implementation of REST APIs, queues, and Webhooks, ensuring that data integrity was maintained while facilitating a smooth transition from the old system to the new one. Results: The project's success can be measured by its positive impact on students and advisors alike. Our platform revolutionized the college advising process, enabling students to receive tailored guidance and increasing their chances of admission to their dream colleges. Advisors found it easier to join the advising team, thanks to the streamlined registration process. Moreover, the data synchronization solution I implemented eliminated data discrepancies and ensured that information remained consistent across both Salesforce and the custom application. This not only enhanced data accuracy but also minimized disruptions during the transition. Overall, the "CollegeAdvisor" project achieved its goals of improving the college admission process for students and advisors, and the successful synchronization of data was a critical milestone in the project's success.
Introduction: "Othership" is an innovative online web application designed to facilitate hybrid and remote working while fostering coworking and connections among users. My Contribution: I played a pivotal role in transforming the "Othership" platform to better serve its users and streamline operations. The initial version of the application was built on WordPress, where vendors and workspace data were manually added, a time-consuming and resource-intensive process. To address this challenge, I conceptualized and developed a vendor's portal, a central hub for efficiently managing workspace areas. This portal was intricately connected to WordPress, enabling seamless publishing of workspace listings directly from the vendor's portal. Moreover, I architected and implemented a microservice dedicated to generating monthly invoices. This microservice automated the invoicing process, enhancing operational efficiency and reducing manual effort. Results: The transformation of "Othership" has greatly improved the platform's efficiency and user experience. The introduction of the vendor's portal has revolutionized the way workspace data is managed, eliminating the need for manual entry and significantly reducing the administrative burden. The integration of the microservice for monthly invoices has streamlined financial processes, making it easier for the platform to handle billing and invoicing, thereby improving overall financial management. Overall, "Othership" now stands as a more user-friendly and operationally efficient platform, fulfilling its mission of promoting coworking and connections while providing a seamless experience for users and vendors alike.
