Ellie C. Frontend, Modern Frameworks and Mobile Platforms

My name is Ellie C. and I have over 3 years of experience in the tech industry. I specialize in the following technologies: CSS, JavaScript, HTML, React, Web Accessibility, etc.. Some of the notable projects I’ve worked on include: Femmze - Shopify store, Emily Carter - Ecommerce Shopify Store, KOKO - Ecommerce Shopify Store, Yolly - Shopify Ecommerce Store, WineSpark - Shopify Ecommerce Store, etc.. My passion is building solutions that are not only technically sound but also deliver an exceptional user experience (UX). I constantly advocate for user-centered design principles, ensuring that the final product is intuitive, accessible, and solves real user problems effectively. I bridge the gap between technical possibilities and the overall product vision.

Working within the Softaims team, I contribute by bringing a perspective that integrates business goals with technical constraints, resulting in solutions that are both practical and innovative. I have a strong track record of rapidly prototyping and iterating based on feedback to drive optimal solution fit.

I’m committed to contributing to a positive and collaborative team environment, sharing knowledge, and helping colleagues grow their skills, all while pushing the boundaries of what's possible in solution development.

Experience Highlights

Femmze - Shopify store

FEMMZE is a new offering in the leak-proof and period underwear space. In addition to their luxury intimates collection they have a members zone which hosts wellness content. This store was developed using the Baseline theme with designs by Kitty Alden. Special features include: - A members only area of the site accessible only to account holders with newsletter subscriptions. The customer's status is verified and they are prompted to either log in or sign up to access the content. - A custom blog with filtering. This page allows for filters to be added or removed dynamically by the store owner based on how the articles are tagged, as well as for tagged posts to be featured in a specialist section. Featured posts are not repeated elsewhere on the page and the collection can be set and ordered by the store owner. - A custom template for blog articles. Usually if a blog requires custom sections a new template is required for each article to ensure the content is unique. For prolific bloggers the number of new unique templates to be created and maintained can soon get out of hand. This custom built template uses data from the blog post itself to determine what content belongs in each section, allowing unlimited articles to be created using a single custom template.

Emily Carter - Ecommerce Shopify Store

Emily Carter is an award-winning British designer based in London, specialising in hand illustrated silk accessories, stationery, and furnishings. I worked on her store to implement the following features: 1) Infinite Scroll I developed the code to enable infinite scrolling on the collection pages. This feature can be adjusted from the Shopify customiser and allows the store admin to quickly switch between an infinite scroll which automatically loads more products, one which loads more products when a 'view more' button is clicked, and Shopify's default paginated view. When you click through to a product page it remembers your place on the collections page and quickly restores your position if you navigate back. 2) Image Gallery I created two gallery pages to show-case the illustrations and patterns used in the products. The gallery has two layout styles - masonry and grid - which can be easily switched between from the customiser. The masonry gallery supports as many images as required and the images run horizontally allowing them to be easily paired in the desired way. In order to optimise user experience on this page I resized the images and ran performance tests to ensure minimum loading times whilst maintaining image quality. 3) Product Customisation I added an option to allow customisation of certain products. Selecting this option changes the price of the item and the extra cost is itemised on the cart page along with the customisation details. 4) Custom Built News Slider I created a bespoke slider section supporting up to 6 content blocks containing text, links, and images which users can navigate through using either keyboard controls, touch screens, or arrow buttons. This slider is fully responsive across all screen sizes. 5) Menu Customisation I created a three level "mega menu" with custom features such as a full width display, client editable settings for the styling of the sub menu headings, and the option to disable the main menu links if they contain a sub menu and instead use these headings to trigger the menu drop down.

KOKO - Ecommerce Shopify Store

This Shopify store was created for KOKO, an exclusive eco-friendly 100% organic apparel brand with designs influenced by artists and musicians. Whilst working on this store I designed and created key information pages as well as generating content. This store was built using the 'Debut' theme. 1) About Page I designed and created the page 'What is KOKO, and Why?' by building dynamic content blocks which can be edited or reordered from the customiser. I designed this page with warm greyscale colours and image rich content blocks to follow the client's brand identity. 2) KOKO = ECO I designed and created the 'KOKO = ECO' page to showcase the client's commitment to social and environmental justice in their business model. I contributed to the content of this page by researching the manufacturers of the clothing sold by the client, as well as the requirements for certification with GOTS, OEKO-TEX Standard 100, and PETA. I created this page by building dynamic content blocks which can be edited or reordered from the customiser, and supplementing the client's image assets with appropriate images sourced from stock photo sites. 3) FAQs Page In designing this FAQ page I decided to separate the text rich content into sections that would allow users to easily find the desired information. I generated the content for this page using information from other pages, as well as research from sources such as the clothing manufacturer's website; the FairWear Foundation; the official websites for GOTS, OEKO-TEX Standard 100, and PETA certification; and the Delivery and Returns section of the 'Print on Demand' company used by the client. 4) Delivery & Returns Page I generated and styled the 'Refund' and 'Terms of Service' pages, and created a dedicated 'Shipping and Returns' page to present a summary of the key information in a more accessible way. To generate the content for this page I researched the Delivery and Returns policies of the 'Print on Demand' company used by the client.

Yolly - Shopify Ecommerce Store

An independent florist based in London. I uploaded new products and created product collections, edited product descriptions, customised the cart page to capture additional customer information, and created newsletters using MailChimp. This store was built using the 'Debut' theme.

WineSpark - Shopify Ecommerce Store

WineSpark are a members only luxury wine brand. In addition to making adjustments to the site styling, my work for this site has included debugging errors with existing features and liaising with app developers and Shopify support team members to resolving issues with the cart and checkout pages. I also added custom logic to the cart page to prevent customers proceeding to checkout unless specific conditions were met.
