Bank Account Balance Verification with Plaid Integration

# Bank Balance Viewer — MVP PRD

We are a specialty lender and need your help to build an MVP that uses plaid api links to grant us monitoring access to our borrowers bank accounts.

**Objective:** Build a simple, secure web application that allows our employees to view the current balances of borrower bank accounts connected through Plaid.

**Users:** 3 employees **Initial scale:** 25–100 borrowers **Integration:** Existing Rainmaker Plaid account

### Feature 1: Add Borrower

• Enter borrower name.
• Click "Generate Plaid Link."
• Copy the link and send it to the borrower.
• Borrower connects their bank account through Plaid's secure hosted interface.
• Connected account appears in Rainmaker's dashboard.

### Feature 2: View Bank Balances

Display a table containing:

• Borrower name
• Bank name
• Account last four digits
• Current balance
• Available balance (if reported by the bank)
• Last updated timestamp
• Connection status
• transactions view, if possible

Allow multiple bank accounts per borrower.

### Feature 3: Refresh Balance

Each account has a "Refresh" button.

When clicked:

• Application calls Plaid's real-time Balance API.
• Updated balances appear in the dashboard.
• Timestamp updates.
• Any API errors are displayed clearly.

Do not automatically refresh balances in the MVP.

### Feature 4: Basic Administration

• Secure staff login with MFA
• Remove or disconnect borrower accounts
• Reconnect accounts when authorization expires
• Secure, encrypted storage of Plaid access tokens

### Technical Requirements

• Plaid Hosted Link for borrower connection
• Plaid Balance API for balance retrieval
• Minimal backend for token exchange and Plaid integration
• Simple password-protected web dashboard with MFA
• Managed database and hosting
• HTTPS and proper secret management
• No borrower-facing application required

Use Plaid's appropriate balance endpoint for the approved use case. Confirm with Plaid whether `/signal/evaluate` is required for loan-repayment-related balance checks.

### Acceptance Criteria

1. We can create a borrower and generate a connection link. 2. Borrower can securely connect a bank account. 3. We can view that account in our dashboard. 4. We can click Refresh and receive the latest available bank balance and transactions 5. Bank account access tokens remain securely stored and inaccessible to browser users. 6. We can disconnect an account. 7. The system handles failed connections and unavailable balances without showing misleading information.
