AI-Native Full-Stack Engineer | Part-Time | Remote | Long-Term Potential
Project description
Contract type: Independent contractor · Part-time · Remote worldwide · Initial engagement approximately 6 months, with potential to extend
ABOUT FLORISH Florish is building a technology-enabled marketplace connecting homeowners, landscape professionals, and commercial buyers with local plant nurseries. We are moving from founder-led operations toward scalable software, streamlined nursery onboarding, better marketplace experiences, and automation across our business.
THE OPPORTUNITY We are seeking a pragmatic, highly capable full-stack engineer who uses AI coding tools as a core part of their development process. You should be able to take a loosely defined business problem, clarify requirements, build a clean implementation, test it, and ship it. We value strong engineering judgment and speed with quality—not AI-generated code that nobody understands.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
- Build and improve marketplace features, internal tools, and workflows for nursery onboarding, product/inventory management, trade inquiries, and order operations.
- Work with our founders and senior technical advisor to scope, prioritize, and deliver small, measurable releases.
- Integrate APIs and existing systems where appropriate, including ecommerce, CRM, and operational tooling.
- Use AI-assisted development to accelerate implementation while owning architecture, code review, security, testing, and maintainability.
- Help assess existing code and recommend what to retain, refactor, or rebuild; document decisions and hand off work clearly.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Demonstrated production full-stack engineering experience, including front end, back end, databases, and third-party APIs.
- Fluent daily use of AI development tools (for example Claude Code, Cursor, or similar), with concrete examples of shipped work.
- Comfort operating in an early-stage company with evolving requirements and direct founder collaboration.
- Ability to work independently, communicate progress clearly, and overlap for scheduled collaboration across time zones.
- Strong practical habits around Git, testing, deployment, access controls, and readable documentation.
ENGAGEMENT Part-time remote contract, open to applicants worldwide. We expect an initial relationship of roughly six months and would welcome a longer collaboration if there is a strong mutual fit. Specific weekly availability and start date will be agreed during the interview process.
HOW TO APPLY Please send 1–2 examples of production software you personally helped ship; describe your role, stack, and measurable outcome. Explain exactly how you use AI coding tools in your workflow, including where you do not trust them. Include your typical weekly availability, time zone, and earliest start date. Links to GitHub, deployed projects, or concise walkthroughs are welcome. Please do not share confidential client code.
