Project description
I am building a small, trusted bench of web accessibility auditors for upcoming client work. There is no immediate project right now. We expect work to pick up over the coming months and want to have qualified people lined up before it does.
What the work will look like
- Auditing responsive websites and mobile web experiences against WCAG 2.2 AA
- Manual testing on real devices with NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver (iOS) and TalkBack (Android)
- Testing zoom, reflow, orientation, touch target size, gestures, and keyboard/switch access on mobile
- Logging clear, reproducible issues with WCAG success criteria, severity, steps to reproduce, and recommended fixes
- Occasional retesting of remediated issues
- Native app testing may come up on some projects (a plus, not required)
Who we're looking for
- Strong hands-on experience with manual mobile accessibility testing, not automated scans alone
- Solid working knowledge of WCAG 2.2 and how it applies to mobile and touch interfaces
- Access to at least one current iOS device and one Android device
- Clear written English and well-organized findings
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable following an existing reporting template
Preferred
- IAAP certification (CPACC, WAS, or CPWA) or equivalent
- Based in Canada (familiarity with AODA is a bonus). Qualified candidates from anywhere are welcome to apply.
- Experience with Section 508 / EN 301 549
- Experience testing native iOS and Android apps
Engagement details
- Hourly, project by project as work comes in
- Remote, flexible hours; some projects may have set deadlines
To apply, please include 1. A short summary of your accessibility testing experience 2. The devices and screen readers you test with 3. Your certifications, if any 4. A sample audit report (redacted) showing how you document a mobile finding 5. Your location and time zone
