Full-stack developer, Node + React + Postgres, for an AI estimating product (roofing / insurance)
Project description
Act On Build Data AI is a Louisville, Kentucky software company building the estimating tool for roofing sales reps and small roofing companies. A rep uploads an insurance carrier's estimate and photos; our AI engine returns every missing line item, priced and cited, and a human estimator turns it into a supplement the contractor submits. The engine already works as a prototype. We need the production system around it.
What you will build, in order: 1. Backend on Node (Fastify or Express) with Postgres on Supabase. Sign-in by text message (Twilio), one API that runs our audit prompt against the Claude API with our key, audit and user storage, an admin queue. 2. Stripe billing: $49/month rep plan, $249/month company plan, one-time supplement orders. 3. A progressive web app (React) for reps: upload estimate PDF and photos, see the audit, order a supplement, view open claims. Phone first. 4. Later: an admin review screen and integrations with roofing CRMs.
How we work: the founder is a working contractor and estimator, not a developer. Claude (Anthropic) writes the engine prompts and much of the application code with us; you own architecture, deploys, auth, billing and the parts that must not break. Weekly video call, async the rest. Code in our GitHub.
You are a fit if you have shipped at least one production app with Stripe and auth, have worked with an LLM API, and can explain tradeoffs in plain English. Experience in construction, insurance or field-service software is a plus, not a requirement. US or Latin America time zones preferred.
Start with a paid 20-hour trial: stand up the backend skeleton with text-message sign-in and one working audit endpoint. Long-term role for the right person.
To apply, tell us in three sentences about one production app you shipped and what broke in the first month.
